Rep. Zach Nunn, R-Iowa, told Newsmax on Wednesday that combat veterans in Congress are ready to support President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to head the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth.
Hegseth this week is continuing to meet with members of Congress in an attempt to shore up support for his nomination, which has come under fire due to allegations of sexual assault made against him in 2017, as well as accusations that he drank while on the job at Fox News during his time as a presenter.
In an interview with “Newsline,” Nunn hailed Hegseth for his military service and noted, “I want someone who’s going to lead the largest military operation in the world, the secretary of defense, to be someone who is a tested leader who’s done this.”
